We are excited to welcome Gershom Poretz to the Tamim Academy team!

Gershom recently joined Tamim Academy after graduating from Moscrop Secondary School in Burnaby in June 2026. While he spent most of his education in the public school system, he grew up with an interest in Judaism through his family’s connection to Noahidism, a universal framework based on the Seven Laws of Noah. This sparked a strong desire to learn more about the Jewish people, Judaism, and Jewish life.

Alongside his high school education, Gershom attended weekly CTeenU classes at Chabad Richmond from 2024 to 2026, where he explored topics ranging from Tanya and the Foundations of Judaism to the Land of Israel. He is excited to continue expanding his knowledge while becoming more connected to the Jewish community through his work at Tamim.

Gershom also has a strong interest in supporting children with autism and ADHD, drawing on personal experiences within his family and his time in public schools. He looks forward to bringing his unique perspective and experiences to the Tamim community and supporting students in their learning and growth.

Outside of school, Gershom enjoys technology and tinkering, photography, aviation, and trains. He is also Filipino and speaks both Tagalog and English.
